Hi, I’m JD, Founder of Illuminate Solutions.

My journey began in Jamaica and continued in New York City, where I’ve lived since the age of five. Growing up between cultures shaped my worldview early—teaching me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of community. Like many of the individuals and families I now serve, my path has not been linear. It has been marked by challenge, perseverance, and growth.

Several years ago, I faced the most defining moment of my life: a life-threatening battle with heart disease that led to a rare double transplant. That experience did more than save my life it clarified my purpose. It deepened my faith, strengthened my resolve, and affirmed my calling to serve others with compassion, integrity, and intention. I don’t speak about resilience in theory; I live it daily.

Professionally, my work has always centered on people particularly youth, families, and communities that have been historically underserved. Through roles in education, program leadership, case management, and operations, I have seen what is possible when individuals are supported holistically and systems are navigated with care. I have also seen the cost when support is absent. Illuminate Solutions was born at the intersection of those experiences.

Illuminate Solutions exists to help individuals, families, organizations, and small businesses move from survival to stability and from stability to growth. Whether I am mentoring a student, supporting a school or church program, coordinating community initiatives, or helping an organization strengthen its operations, my goal remains the same: to be a source of clarity, support, and light.

New York City is more than my home it is my foundation. Its resilience, diversity, and determination are reflected in everything I do. A core value of Illuminate Solutions is reinvestment: every dollar earned is poured back into the communities that shaped me. We support youth programs, schools, churches, and grassroots initiatives because legacy is built through collective uplift.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that asking for help is not weakness it is wisdom. Growth happens when we allow ourselves to be supported. That is the mindset I bring to every partnership and encourage in every client: you do not have to do it alone.

At Illuminate Solutions, we are guided by Habakkuk 2:2: “Write the vision and make it plain.” I believe that when vision is clear, purpose is aligned, and faith is active, transformation is possible.
